I take Ambien at night sometimes, and it gives me weird dreams if I am otherwise sleep disturbed. I've been pretty sick and having a lot of abdominal pain, so no surprise that I had weird dreams last night, plus I was sleeping in a strange bed.
Having been sick all day yesterday, I cancelled my plans to have dinner downtown with my friend Beau, who is in the States visiting for a month this summer on break from his job teaching in Madagascar. Rather than miss out on seeing him, I invited him to Scott's house, since T is out of town and Scott has seemed bored all week without her anyway. Plus their house is roomy and clean, opposed to my tiny hovel of filth. Becky joined us, and we ordered Yello Subs and had a lovely evening chatting and catching up. I opted to stay over, because T has a huge jacuzzi style bathtub that was practically calling my name, and I haven't had a bath since March 16th. I remember this because I took a bath there the day before St. Pat's day so that I could shave my legs before being on the Queens for our own amusement float. Between the fact that I have a standing shower and the fact that I've been restricted off and on about bathing, I was really craving a bath. It was wonderful. Anyway, I slept in their guest room and had strange dreams all night.
The one dream that stands out the most is the one in which I had this "boyfriend", except that I didn't really like him. He was sort of not right mentally, and on top of that, he had an extra head growing out of his shoulder. It was small and malformed. More importantly, though, (at least in this dream) was the fact that he was insecure and clingy and mentally unstable. I took a bus to his trailer house where he lived with his mother and tried to break up with him, but he was having some type of breakdown so I had to pretend to be really happy to see him and when I hugged him, I had to try to land on the shoulder that didn't have the extra head. Finally his mother intervened and took him to another part of the house, at which point I ran outside, caught another bus, and moved on to a classical music concert at some church. I felt guilty the whole time, though.
I think I only remember my strangest dreams. I once had dream that I had sex with a ham. Seriously. Most people would be embarassed about such a dream, but I am fascinated, and have shared the tale of the ham/sex dream with most of my friends and a few strangers whose ears perked up because they were standing near us when we discussed it. It makes for a shocking "Well, I once dreamed..." story.
I claim no control over such dreams, and my waking fantasies certainly don't include pork products, usually. I am also hoping that my next boyfriend has only one head, and does not reside in a trailer with his mother.
